This page displays the breakdown of my Mel Matrix project. I created a Mel script that "Pixelates" any selected geometry in Maya. It can also be used with any other objects to duplicate, they don't have to be cubes.
The script includes 4 procedures:
FIRST DRAFT OF UI
This is the first attempt to create a UI for the tool.
The user will be able to input the colors for each shader,
the particle density and the object to instance.
The tool can be used not only to create pixelated styled objects, but also to fill any object with any other object you like.
This was a very challenging project. I had coded in Python before, but this was my first time using Mel. While doing some research I found various ways to create this tool. Decided to use the fill nParticle, for various reasons. In the end the scene is lighter, you can add a huge amount of instances and the user can later modify the results very easily. I am really happy with the results, but I would like to adjust some small things in order to make the script more functional and optimized.
